Solar Flare Telescope (SOFT)

Solar Flare Telescope (SOFT)

Solar Flare Telescope (SOFT) is the first research-oriented solar observing facility in Korea, which was installed at the top of the Bohyun mountain in 1995.

The SOFT was originally designed as a 4-channel instrument, for the observations of solar active requires, and includes white light and Ha observing systems, a vector magnetogram (VMG) and a longitudinal magnetogram (LMG).

In the year 2006, an Ha full-disk monitoring system for the observations of the chromosphere was added to the SOFT. Observational data are used for solar activity and space weather studies.
